Durability

When it comes to durability of the KEEN Utility Men’s Pittsburgh Steel Toe Work Boot, the unique construction and built-in features allow the boots to withstand just about any working environment, though longevity depends on what you’re subjecting them to.  Working on dirt surfaces and concrete, they hold up rather well, plus they are waterproof. 

When KEEN came up with this specific boot they called it Pittsburgh, the derivative of the city, with its factories and steel plants, and all the hard working individuals who perform hard labor tasks on a daily basis, therefore these boots had to be just as tough and rugged.  With the asymmetrical steel toes, rubber toe guard, and gripping rubber outsole, several layers that would have to be broke down before the boot would show much wear.

Comfort

As far as comfort, these boots feel like tennis shoes or a well-padded hiking boot.  They are equipped with a waterproof breathable lining that keeps moisture out, plus they contain and EVA footbed and EVA midsole for comfort and support.  These specific boots can be worn all day on concrete, or walking up and down steps without feeling fatigued.  Furthermore, they are ideal for those with plantar fasciitis or flat feet as they provide that additional support in the arch and heel area.

Protection

There are several incorporated features on these work boots that offer ample protection on any hazardous job.  First off all, they are steel toe boots with an ASTM rating of F2412-11 and F2413-11 I/75 C/75, plus they offer electrical hazard protection and reflective webbing.  In addition, the outsole is oil and slip resistant and is engineered with a rubber toe guard.

Waterproof

Getting these boots wet is not a problem; they are constructed with a waterproof Nubuck leather lining and a waterproof breathable membrane that keeps the water from soaking into your boots and coming in contact with your feet.  Walking through mud holes on the job is not an issue, as your feet will remain dry. Usage

Would be ideal for outdoor labor where one might be subjected to the elements, plus also great for hiking.  Construction workers, farmers, electricians, heavy machinery operators, are just a handful of occupations that would benefit from the Pittsburgh Steel Toe Work Boot because they meet all of the safety standards that are required with these positions.

Cons

There is some concern with the locking lace hooks as they will not let up if you tighten the laces too tight, we recommend securing to a regular tension so it won’t bind.  Also, they seem to feel fairly hot during sweltering summer days when the breathable membrane has to work overtime.

Style

Not only are these boots rugged and durable, they are also desirably handsome looking.  They resemble a hiking boot with ample protection.  Furthermore, they are a mid-height work boot with a lace up feature and locking lace hooks.  Men’s sizes range from 8 to 11D.  Weight per pair is 3.8lbs.
