Have purchased several pairs of Wolverine work boots over my 35 years in construction and have always loved them. Thank you for a great product that feels great the moment I put them on.
Wolverine boots with durashock soles have Hydrolysis issues. They crumble and fall apart.
Hydrolysis affects the polyurethane soles of many boots these days. Polyurethane is a great sole material since it is lightweight, flexible, shock absorbent, and hard wearing. Unfortunately, it deteriorates with age. Be sure to always put your boots away dry since that can speed up the aging process.
Wolverine Buccaneers I’d bought about 5-6 yrsback were so comfortable, I’d wear them even when I wasn’t working. More comfortable than my $120 sneakers. They endured quite a bit of punishment, till after an abusive 3 1/2 yrs they fell apart, love wolverine boots
I really like both my pairs of wolverine boots, however I am disappointed that my older pair is falling apart. They have been used occasionally for about 8 years. They are splitting at the back seam despite the leather being nearly perfect. My “cheap” carhart boots from the hardware store lasted longer…
8 years is a long time to keep a pair of boots! A lot of it depends on the method used to bind the boot to the sole and sole material.
I bought my boots over five years ago. The heel broke so I put them away. Bought another pair so didn’t use them for years. I decided to paint my fence today and take out some old boots. When I took out these Wolverines and started to walk the hill started to disintegrate is that normal after five years with your boots? I have pictures if you like.

Bought 2 pair. Very comfortable but lasted 6 months and the second different model look terrible after 1 month.
Wolverine Boot claims over 130 years of quality . That used to be true . I have a pair of 150 dollar wolverine boots . The boot is actually a pair that the company sent to me as a replacement pair . The reason they sent this replacement pair is because the soles actually rotted on the pair they replaced after hardly being worn . Now after two years , yep , two years the soles on this replacement pair have rotted and breaking up . Come on these are wolverine boots ! I wear these boots four to five days a week and five to six hours a day , around the farm and they are not abused , just used . The best they could do is give an offer of thirty percent off on a new pair to replace them . That is still 105 bucks for poor quality . Why would I do that when I have seen the poor quality soles first hand ? Why would I do that when I can go and get a pair of china made boots , very near the looks to the wolverine boot and will last just as long . Then after the sole dies , I can go back and purchase another pair and still be ahead . I hate your poor quality at unreal prices . People , if you want quality boots , I just can not recommend wolverine . They just ain’t what they used to be and they can’t afford to back them .
There are only a handful of Wolverine boots that are still made in the USA, including their “1000 Mile” collection. All of the rest are made in China. If you prefer only USA-made and higher quality, check out boots from Bates, Belleville, Keen, and Thorogood.
I have purchased 5 pairs of Wolverine boots in the last 6 years and so has my son. They all do well except for one thing with every pair for both of us. The soles end up splitting within a year to a year and a half regardless of what they are used for. My son wears them in a dry environment at work and only at work. The present pair I have are less than a year and a half old and I am pitching them today because they leak due to the soles absolutely falling apart. 4 places on the left boot and 5 on the right. It’s a shame, because I really do like the boot otherwise and so does my son. He has purchased 4 pair in the last 5 years with the same results. Wishing that Wolverine could come up with a better sole. I would purchase them exclusively
